Mini Plugin for Minimalism

I might be the most reluctant SEO plugin user in the known universe. I got to appreciate the craft of people doing actual search engine optimisation over the last couple of years, but in general I cannot be bothered.

For quite some time, I’m also a user of The SEO Framework, a rather minimal SEO plugin for WordPress. It was just released in version 5.2 and only had a single thing that mildly annoyed me: the SEO Bar it added to a post types overview table was a bit to “loud” for my taste. So today I fixed it with the smallest of plugins, reskinning a lovely feature to make it feel a bit more native to the WordPress GUI. Meet Quiet SEO Bar. It’s basically just a couple of lines of CSS in a trench coat.

Screenshots of the WP post overview table with 4 rows of posts each with a title and the SEO bar. On the left we see big boxes with letters in them to indicate (no) issues with different SEO aspects of a post. On the right the revised version of this in slither shapes (mostly circles).
Left: the original The SEO Framework experience; Right: Quiet SEO Bar’s reskin.
